The Practice
Buttery and Watson is a Chartered Town Planning and Development Consultancy advising both  private and public sector clients upon legal and administrative matters relating to property and land use planning throughout the U.K.




The Consultancy was established at the beginning of 1981, since which time it has become recognised in the profession as one of the foremost practices specialising in problem solving in the town planning field – by negotiation, by pursuing appeals by the Written Representation procedure and by presenting evidence at Informal Hearings and Public Inquiries.

Allen E. Watson M.R.I.C.S., Dip. T.P., M.R.T.P.I.

A Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Town Planner, being a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Town Planning, and  being a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.  Prior to establishing Buttery and Watson in 1981, he was a partner with W.R. Davidge and Partners, reputed to be the oldest firm of Town Planners in the World, having previously spent many years as a Planner in Local Government.  Allen brings a wealth of experience to the Practice, having been involved in many aspects of property and land use planning since the mid-1960s.

Roy Buttery, B.A., Dip. T.P., F.R.T.P.I., a founding Partner, retired from the practice in 2011.
